Lively Tales About Dead Teams

Media Guides

This is an incomplete gallery of Media Guides for the original Major Indoor Soccer League, which was active from 1978 to 1992.  Several subsequent indoor soccer organizations have revived the MISL brand name during the 21st century, but have been much less ambitious and have no business connection to the original league.

As far as we know, only two teams failed to produce a media guide during the MISL’s 14-year run: the 1980-81 Hartford Hellions and the 1988-89 Los Angeles Lazers.

  1. Very cool!

I just bought a handful of league and Stallions guides on Ebay, and always on the lookout for more.

To be honest, I don’t think I would have if there was a comprehensive book about the MISL available for purchase along the lines of Colin Jose’s book about the NASL. I know a gentleman put one together on his own dime, but that was three years ago and he only made roughly about 100 copies. Too bad, as I think there may have been a market for it amongst the soccer fans in the US.

    Keep up the great work!

  2. That was Rich Paschette’s book. I did buy one. I don’t know if the problem was there wasn’t as big a market as you think or Rich thought, or if marketing it would have been too great an expense.
