New York Rovers (1964-1965)

This 1964-65 New York Rangers farm club in the Eastern Hockey League was the last of several versions of the New York Rovers ice hockey team.  Like the original Rovers, who started out back in 1935 as a senior amateur club in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League and played until 1952, the 1964-65 Rovers traditionally played Sunday afternoon matinees at Madison Square Garden.  The team disbanded only one season.

1998 New York Cityhawks Media Guide from the Arena Football League

New York CityHawks

The New York CityHawks enjoyed a brief two-year fling in the Arena Football League.  The team performed quite poorly both on the field and at the box office.  The team finished 2-12 in 1997 and 3-11 in 1998. The CityHawks marked the Arena Football League’s second failed attempt to establish a franchise in the nation’s biggest media market.  An earlier AFL franchise – the New York Knights – played a single summer at the Garden in 1988 before vanishing. 1967 New York Skyliners program from the United Soccer Association

New York Skyliners

The New York Skyliners were a professional soccer entry that lasted for one season at Yankee Stadium during the summer of 1967. The Skyliners were members of the United Soccer Association, a league that imported European and South American clubs into the United States to play under pseudonyms during their domestic offseasons. The Skyliners were actually Cerro of Uruguay. All of the Skyliners were Uruguayan except for leading scorer Benedicto Ribeiro (Brazil), forward Luis Suarez (Argentina) and goalkeeper Osmar Miguelucci (Argentina).
